The Junior Scratch League (JSL) aims to provide the low handicap/scratch players with the opportunity to compete against their peers using a matchplay format. No handicaps are involved so it really is finding our who the best golfers are.
For this inaugural year we have Crewe, High Legh, Lymm, Ringway and Styal competing in a 'round robin' league where everyone gets to play against each other.
Age limit - under 18 years at 00.00 on 1st January of the current year.
Singles matchplay over 18 holes, if level after 18 the match is halved.
No handicaps, this is a scratch/gross competition.
Caddies are NOT allowed. Once play has commenced, supporters (parents, friends, team mates) following a group must stay at a discreet distance (at least 50 metres) at all times & must not give advice or information to a player (see Rules of Golf 10.2). Failure to comply will result in 'Disqualification' for the junior receiving advice.
Ball spotting ahead of players & assisting in the search for a lost ball by spectators is permitted; note the 3-minute rule for a ball search starts only when the player arrives in that area.
Each team to consist of 5 players.
The visiting club to provide the host club with their players no later than 48 hours beforehand, please iinclude their WHI.
Players are matched in handicap order.
Tees to be decided by the host club, we would encourage playing off the back where possible.
Where applicable there will be a handicap adjustment for girls, for example at Lymm the CR for ladies red tees is 73 whilst the men's white tee is 71 - so ladies will get 2 shots against the mens white tee SI (in this instance it is on holes 3 and 16).
The winner on the day will receive 2 points, in the event of a draw both teams will receive 1 point.
Results are to be sent to the WhatsApp group, stating the full result - Club A beat Club B 3&2.
The league winner will be the one with the most points, in the event of a tie it will go down to who has the most individual points.
If a match is not played it will be deemed a draw.
Matches need to be played between 1st April and 30th September.
The host club is to agree a day/time with the visiting club, please be flexible and consider both teams availability.
