Compared to some other sports, golf is essentially a safe sport with thankfully few accidents but observing the simple steps outlined below will contribute to everyone's enjoyment.
This page provides an assessment of the main risk areas identified for players and staff at Lymm Golf Club on the golf course. It is not a definitive list and players should observe safe practices at all times. Play is at the individuals own risk, players should consider adequate insurance cover.
Mobile Phones must be switched off in and around the Clubhouse and on the course. Their use is not permitted on the course except to summon help in the case of an emergency.
PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AWARE AT ALL TIMES OF DANGER TO OTHERS AND TO THEMSELVES; ALL ACCIDENTS MUST BE REPORTED.
CARE MUST BE TAKEN AT ALL TIMES TO AVOID ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES TO ONESELF AND TO OTHER PLAYERS, OFFICIALS OR STAFF.
FIRST AID BOXES WILL BE FOUND IN THE BAR AREA, and OFFICE,
All accidents MUST be reported to the Admin Manager, the Pro's Shop or Bar for entry into the Accident Book.
Every effort is made by the Club to ensure that the course is as safe as possible, however, safety remains largely in the hands of the individual. Please take care at all times and in particular note the following: -
1st - Take care, especially in wet or frozen conditions when using the bridges to cross the stream. When using path to right of green be aware of players teeing off from 2nd.
2nd - When playing from tee take care of players on path by 1st green. Deep water in pond on the right side of hole. When using path from 2nd up to the 3rd be aware of players teeing from the 11th tee on right.
3rd - Steep bank along left-hand side of hole.
4th - No specific hazards
5th - Steep bank rear of green.
6th - Steep bank along left hand side of hole especially on the "island" level with 7th green.
7th - When playing from tee take care of players on path by 6th green. Be aware of players on 8th tee when playing approach shots to the green.
8th - Whilst on the tee remain vigilant of potentially wayward shots to the 7th green. Do not enter 8th green if players are teeing off on the 9th.
9th - Do not tee off if players are on the 8th green. Steep bank left-hand side of green.
10th - Steep bank on left-hand side of hole. Be aware of players walking down the path to the 11th, allow them to reach bottom of path before playing.
11th - If you are able to reach the green with your tee shot ensure no one is on the green. Be aware of players crossing fairway from 2nd green and also players coming down path from 10th hole.
12th - Deep water in front of medal tee. When crossing 18th fairway as you approach 13th be aware of shots from the right towards the 18th green.
13th - Steep bank and stream on right-hand side of green. Deep water in pond on left.
14th - No specific hazards
15th - When playing from top tee be aware of walkers on public footpath at bottom of hill and also be aware of players teeing off from 17th. Wait for the bell to ring to signal players in front are out of range before teeing off. When on the fairway ring the bell after last player has played.
16th - Two streams with steep banks cross fairway. Bank in front of green can be slippy in wet weather. Beware of walkers on public footpath at bottom of hill.
17th - Parts of green hidden from view from the tee, ensure green is clear before teeing off. Be aware of players on 15th tee when teeing off.
18th - When teeing off be aware of walkers on public footpath at bottom of hill. Use path when descending hill. Two streams with steep banks cross fairway. Be aware of players crossing from the 12th to 13th tee.
Follow all direction signs whilst on the course.
Observe safety instruction displayed in Club's rental buggies.
Fertiliser and Insecticides etc. on the ground: Do not lick golf balls or fingers. A notice on the 1st Tee will advise of any chemicals that have been used. Players are advised to take heed of the warnings and protect themselves.
Footwear: Ensure that you are wearing suitable footwear - you have a responsibility to yourself to avoid slipping on slopes and other awkward places.
Green Keeper Staff: Green Keeping staff has priority at all times. Always make sure that they are aware of your presence before you play your shot. The Green Keeping staff are instructed to signal to you when it is safe to play.
ACTION IN THE EVENT OF A CLUBHOUSE FIRE see herewith
Suspension of play for a dangerous situation (e.g. lightning) will be signalled by a prolonged single blast on the klaxon operated from the Clubhouse.
Please advise the office (preferably via email office@lymmgolfclub.co.uk) if you encounter anything you feel is unsafe.
